Ask for a consultation

Ask another department or clinician for a consultation, set out the question, and track the reply on the patient record. A consultation is one kind of order in Forge, placed from the Add Orders card like any other.

   Open Add Orders and choose a consultation

   On the record, open Add Orders and search the catalogue for the consultation. Choose it to add its line to the ordersheet.

   Choose the specialty

   Choose the specialty you are asking. The request routes to the department or team that answers for that specialty, so it lands with the right people.

   Set the urgency

   Set the urgency so the answering team reads your request in the right order against the rest of their list.

   Set out the question

   Write the question in plain terms: what you are asking, and what you have found so far. A clear question earns a clear reply, and it stays on the order for the answering clinician to read.

   Place and track

   Choose Create, read the preview, and confirm. The consultation routes to the team. Track it on the record: the reply lands against the order and reads alongside the rest of the visit.
