Order a laboratory or imaging test in Forge, choose the test and priority, and send it to the department that carries it out.

Choose the test
Open Add Orders and search the catalogue for the laboratory test or imaging study. Choose it to add its line to the ordersheet.

Set the priority
Set the priority to
routineorurgent. Urgent moves the test up the department's list, so keep it for the case that needs the quicker turnaround. - 3
Add the detail the test needs
Fill the line from its pickers. A laboratory test asks for the specimen and container. An imaging study asks for the modality and body part. A result form travels with some tests, and a few are filled before the order is placed.

Preview and place
Choose Create, read the preview, and confirm. The test routes to the department that carries it out, at this site or through a connected system where the work happens elsewhere.

Follow the result
The result returns against the order. One person enters or receives it, and a second person verifies it before it settles on the record. You read the values, units, ranges and any abnormal flag in View Orders.
What each test asks for
Two people stand behind a result
A result is entered or received by one person and verified by another, so the value that reaches the record has been checked by a second pair of eyes. A correction is added as a new version, and the earlier value stays on the record, marked superseded.
Common questions
Routine or urgent?
Priority sets where the test sits in the department's list. Keep urgent for the case that genuinely needs the faster turnaround, so it stays meaningful.
The test goes to an outside laboratory.
The order routes out through the site's connection, and the result returns the same way, landing against the order like any other.
Where does an imaging study appear?
Against its order in View Orders. When the images are ready, a View Images control opens the study in the viewer, tied to the right patient and order.
