Procedure
Publish a roster
Publish a staff roster for a ward or department, set who works each shift, and make the schedule visible to the team.
A roster records who works each shift on a ward or department. You publish one here in Nexus Manager, set who works each shift, and make the schedule visible to the team.
A roster is more than a schedule
A duty is one person on one shift covering one place for a span of time. The roster gathers the duties, and being on shift becomes part of a person's current care relationship, so access follows the roster onto and off a shift.
Before you start
Publish the roster
- 1
Open the roster
In Nexus Manager, open the ward or department and choose its Roster panel. The current roster appears, with the duties already set.
- 2
Choose the ward and period
Pick the ward or department and the date range you are rostering. The board frames the days across the top and the staff down the side.
- 3
Generate the duties
Choose Generate from template and pick a shift template. The platform fills the roster with the duties the template produces across the period.
- 4
Adjust the duties
Move a person onto or off a shift, and set the place each duty covers. Each change shows against the person and the day it touches.
- 5
Arrange cover and leave
Where a person takes leave, record it, and the roster arranges cover for the duties it touches. A change to covered leave moves the affected duties to other staff, and you see the duties it touches before it lands.
- 6
Publish the roster
Choose Publish. The team sees the schedule, and Quest routes each due task to whoever is on shift.
What the roster drives
A published roster carries three things at once.
| What it drives | How it reaches the team |
|---|---|
| Cover | Each shift shows who stands in when a person is away. |
| Access | Being on shift is part of a current care relationship, so a person on duty reaches the patients in their care. |
| Assignment of care | Quest reads the roster, so a due dose or a reminder lands with whoever is on shift. |
Access follows the shift
A person on shift reaches the patients in their care, and as the shift changes the access that follows it changes too. Read how roles and relationships combine a role with a live shift.
Common questions
How is a roster filled?
From a shift template. You generate the duties for a date range, and the platform fills the roster with them, ready for you to adjust and publish.
What happens to a covered duty when someone takes leave?
The roster moves the affected duties to other staff, so the gap is filled and the shift keeps its cover.
How do due tasks reach the right person?
Quest reads the roster, so a due dose or a reminder lands with whoever is on shift at the time. Read about your due list.
