Procedure
Sharing with a family member
Walks through a patient granting a family member access to parts of their record, and how that access is later withdrawn.
You share parts of your record with a family member from your patient view. This page walks through granting that access, and how you withdraw it later. Your family member sees only the parts you choose, for as long as you choose.
Before you start
Grant access
- 1
Open sharing
From your patient view, open Sharing. It lists anyone who holds access to your record now.
- 2
Add the family member
Choose Add a person. Enter your family member's details, or pick them from an invitation you have sent.
- 3
Choose the parts
Select the parts to share, such as your visits, your results or your documents. Your family member sees only the parts you select.
- 4
Set how long
Choose how long the access lasts. Set a fixed end date, or keep it open until you withdraw it.
- 5
Confirm
Review your choices and confirm. Your family member gains their view, and the grant is recorded on your record.
What your family member sees
A family member reaches only the parts you selected, through their own sign-in. Their every open of your record appears in your access history, the same as any member of staff.
Withdraw access
You withdraw a family member's access at any time. Their view closes as soon as you confirm.
- 1
Open sharing
Open Sharing from your patient view. Find the family member in the list.
- 2
Withdraw
Choose Withdraw access beside their name, and confirm the change.
- 3
Check the history
The withdrawal is recorded. Your access history keeps the account of what was shared and when it ended.
After a withdrawal
Once you withdraw access, your family member's view closes. Your record keeps a history of the grant, so what was shared and for how long stays reconstructable.
