Procedure

Your due list

Walks through reading your own due list, seeing the care due now and coming up, and acting on each task from one place.

Your due list, kept by Quest, is the one place to read what you owe the ward and act on it. Open it to see the care due now and coming up, and work each task from a single screen.

Before you start, a few things need to hold.

Done. You are signed in with your own identity.
Done. You are on shift on the duty roster.
Outstanding.Tasks are assigned to your role for this shift.

Open your due list

  1. 1

    Sign in as yourself

Sign in on the ward workstation with your own identity. Your due list is drawn from the tasks that belong to you, so it reads correctly once you have signed in.

  2. 2

    Open Quest from the dock

Open Quest from the dock. Your due list opens on the tasks due to you this shift, with the care due now at the top.

  3. 3

    Read what is due now

The tasks due now sit at the top. Each card shows the patient, the action and the due time, so you know what to do before you open the full record.

  4. 4

Look at what is coming up

Below the due tasks, the list shows what is coming up over the next few hours. Use it to plan a round rather than react dose by dose.

  5. 5

    Act on a task

Open a task to act on it, and record the outcome as you go. A dose is given, held, refused or unavailable, and a due time that passes with nothing recorded stands as missed. A process step is marked done.

  6. 6

    Watch it clear

Once you record the outcome, the task clears from the due now band and moves into the history. The list stays honest about what is still owed.

Now and coming up

The list reads in two bands. Due now holds the tasks whose time has come. Coming up holds the tasks that fall due over the next few hours. Reading both together lets you plan the shift rather than meet each task cold.

If a task falls due while you are with another patient, it waits in the due now band until you reach it. The list holds the task rather than dropping it.

When a shift changes

Your due list follows the duty roster. When your shift ends, the tasks still outstanding follow the role to whoever comes on next, so care carries across the handover. See how the roster is kept in duty rosters.

Your list is yours

The due list is drawn from your own identity and your place on the roster. Sign in as yourself on a shared workstation, so each task you act on stays attributed to you.

Common questions

Why is a task missing from my list?

A due list shows the tasks that belong to your role on this shift. A task assigned to another role or another shift sits on that person's list instead.

What happens to my tasks when I go off shift?

Outstanding tasks follow the role on the roster to the next person on shift. The history still names whoever acted on each one.

Where does a dose go once I give it?

A given dose clears from the due now band and moves into the history, with your name and the time recorded against it.
